After “THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST”, What’s Next?

HOUSTON, TX (PRWEB) July 28, 2004

EvangelismTickets.com, an on-line ticket agency designed to help Christians better connect with the unchurched by providing complementary access to millions of faith-based events, was launched today in Houston.

The national service offers sponsors seamless ticket purchasing and distribution for Christian events presented by more than 400,000 churches and faith-based organizations throughout North America.

Following on the heels of the phenomenally successful movie The Passion of the Christ, the strategy of providing unchurched individuals with complementary tickets to Christian events is a logical “next step” for churches and faith-based organizations to impact the culture, officials from EvangelismTickets.com said in making the announcement.

“Last month The Barna Group released results of a tracking study about religious behavior that should be of great concern to every Christian. According to the study, since 1991 the number of adults who do not attend church has nearly doubled, rising from 39 million to 75 million,” said EvangelismTickets.com Founder and CEO Justin Smith.

“Organized Christianity has predominately invested its time and resources preaching to the choir. We believe the time is right for a new strategy to help Christians reverse this negative trend and impact the culture in a significant way,” he added.

Smith, who has 30 years of experience in the Christian music industry, noted that the technology-driven strategy will “establish a new paradigm for outreach by empowering 113 million churchgoers to donate the cost of admission to life-changing events on behalf of people who have yet to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Prior to today’s launch, Houston-based EvangelismTickets.com spent three years in market research, development and analysis. The business model for Evangelism Tickets was first tested in Florida, where an average of 100 tickets per event were sold through sponsors interested in providing complementary tickets to non-Christians. The recipients, who otherwise likely would not have attended these events, were exposed to culturally relevant Christian music and presentations of how one becomes a Christian.

Churches and faith-based organizations can now designate a portion of their admissions as ‘Evangelism Tickets’ for any fee-based event they present, including concerts, festivals, theatrical performances, pageants, holiday celebrations, workshops, seminars, retreats, lectures, conference, banquets, youth camps and mission trips. Congregations can then purchase tickets on-line with a few clicks and a credit card. Purchasers can designate recipients of Evangelism Tickets or they can be donated anonymously.
